Web Design • UX Improvements • Navigation Restructuring • Content Organization • Responsive Design

Founded in 1980 and located in Oak Harbor on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, Tammany Yacht Club serves as a boating and social community for sailors, power boaters, families, and recreational members. The club offers sailing programs, regattas, social events, venue rentals, and reciprocal access to yacht clubs throughout the Gulf Coast.
The goal of the redesign was to modernize the club's online presence, improve navigation, and better communicate the value of membership to prospective members.

Over time, the club's website had become difficult to navigate as content and programs expanded.
Information lacked clear organization, important user pathways were difficult to follow, and the visual design no longer reflected the club's professionalism and community atmosphere.
The challenge was to create a more modern, intuitive experience that better served the club's diverse audiences while preserving its established identity.
The previous website contained valuable information but presented several usability and perception challenges:
The site also needed to appeal to multiple audiences:
The website was redesigned to improve usability, streamline content organization, and create a more modern digital experience.
Navigation and information architecture were restructured around the club’s primary offerings, making key content easier to discover.
The visual design was refreshed with improved hierarchy, readability, and calls-to-action while preserving the club’s welcoming identity and community-focused atmosphere.
Responsive layouts ensured a seamless experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Tammany Yacht Club serves a diverse audience including prospective members, current members, sailors, families, event attendees, and venue rental inquiries. One of the primary goals of the redesign was to make it easier for each audience to quickly find relevant information while presenting a more cohesive story about the club and its value.
Rather than focusing solely on individual pages, the content strategy centered on organizing information around the club's core offerings and creating clearer pathways for users to explore membership, sailing programs, events, and amenities.
Clarified Membership Value
Improved Information Architecture
Audience-Focused Messaging
Enhanced Readability
The revised content strategy transformed the website from a collection of informational pages into a more purposeful experience that helps visitors understand what the club offers, who it serves, and why becoming involved is valuable.
If you're trying to impress agencies or hiring managers, I'd also include a small visual artifact here—something like a sitemap, navigation comparison, or content hierarchy diagram. That demonstrates that you weren't just designing screens; you were thinking strategically about how users move through information.
The redesigned website provided Tammany Yacht Club with a cleaner, more modern platform that better reflected the organization’s community, amenities, and overall experience.
The final product improved usability, simplified navigation, and created a stronger online presence while maintaining the club’s personality and sense of tradition. The updated structure also made the site easier to maintain and better prepared for future growth and updates.
